What Are Words Worth?

For word aficionados like myself, “Kool” was used by early jazz musicians, a lot of whom couldn’t spell, so “Cool” was misspelled “Kool”.
It’s a few years ago now, we stopped watching a certain TV magazine show. The show used to be sometimes interesting, with some science and nature content, it gradually became almost totally celebrity based. In the last few weeks of watching, we noticed the word “amazing” cropping up more and more. In one episode the word “amazing “ was used nineteen times in thirty minutes, that was enough, we watched it no more.

Cliches

The most common word in our vocabulary today a tiny little three letter word, you know the one, it’s pay.

Another that is over used, and don’t think that I’m  praising, it’s become a cliche now, that word is amazing.

I was taught please and thank you, by my little Mum, certainly not “Can I get?”where did that come from?

I’m tired of hearing “Is that everything” after every transaction, how can it be everything ? is my usual reaction.

Just thinking of hearing “Perfect” fills me with dread, the last time I said “woke” it was “Up from My bed”

I want to have charisma, not something called rizz, and that word kool it makes my blood fizz.

In the dictionary there are  thousands of words, that people can’t use them seems absurd, words like ergo, sough,  banal and deign, to kill off these words, would be to me insane.

Why does every sentence now begin with so? When there are so many other words, that one should know.

Like is another that people just love, where will it end, Oh heavens above.

OMG you say are you really quite sure? Do you think the English language is irretrievably poor.

So many good words that we really should keep, use them with gusto, don’t just follow like sheep.

Next time you hear a word that’s becoming far too common, just think of another, maybe Imbecile, or mammon.

One more word that more of should we see, a beautiful word, and that word is free.

All words Meadowhead Bard.
