Too Much of Nothing.

I absolutely know we are being brain washed and manipulated, to keep the privileged few in wealth. How can it be normal to just want more and more ? Next time you visit a shop, say Next or similar, just stand and look around, how can all that stuff be necessary? We have a coffee shop on a mezzanine above our local Next, and when one views from above, it really is a shocking sight. When we were on holiday a few weeks ago, in the south of England, we traveled around on the busses, and we noticed dozens of massive houses, eight ten bedrooms possibly, and I would bet most of them just have one couple living there, why? Status ! All the big country mansions people love to visit, all built for oneupmanship, “ Oh my house is bigger than yours” and “Look I’ve got a folly” and we worship that ???

Sorry if this is a bit early, but it is relevant to the prompt. Although I wrote it a while ago, I don’t think I’ve posted it before.

I don’t want

I don’t want to live on Mars, or drive around in electric cars. I just want to be left alone, stare at the sky and see the stars.

I don’t want to live on the moon, and eat jam from a silver spoon.  Just let me live a simple life, and enjoy freedom with my lovely wife.

I don’t want no fancy app, or even an electronic map. I can find my way alone, without some damn fancy, shiny iPhone.

So keep your opinions to yourself, Or I’ll tell you where to shove your Christmas elf, I used to love this time of year, But now it’s become something I fear.

The more you tell me what I like, The more I’ll tell you go take a hike. Here’s one present you should keep, a great big sign that reads, “I am not a bloody sheep”

Appolgy,

WordPress edit is really beginning to wind me up. Poetry should be arranged in verses in the way the author wrote it. But editor keeps changing it. So I’m sorry if it doesn’t read properly, It’s not my fault.

All words (But not the arrangement of them) Meadowhead Bard.

    Spot on as ever, Indi.

Greed is most definitely not good.
