What cities do I want to visit ? That’s like asking a free range chicken, what battery farms she wants to holiday at. I don’t like cities, they are a necessary evil though in this distorted world we live in. Generally they are dirty, overcrowded and breed violence as everyone fights for their little space. Take the above mentioned battery chickens for instance, forever pecking feathers out and damaging each other, not to mention how easily disease spreads in these unnatural environments. Look what happened with covid for example.
I worked in London for while, hated it, the only saving grace was the ability to get coffee and croissants before work. It wasn’t really as bad as today’s verse, this was inspired by a news item about Marseilles, where crime is more common than not.
The Smoke.
The smoke it puthered, the traffic roared,
All manner of creatures are abroad.
Town foxes, rats, and human lice.
A place like hell but cold as ice.
Litter blows around these streets like snow,
Only the homeless know where to go.
Like the pigeons they cower in grimy corners,
Old soldiers and misfits, they’ll be no mourners.
Words rarely spoken, to strangers here,
No love on the streets they’re ruled by fear.
Guns and knives in the hands of youths,
You can almost hear the Devils hooves.
All words Meadowhead bard.
