I’m An Alien In My Own World.

Ok so I have my problems, depression, anxiety and I’m borderline autistic, but this doesn’t stop me being a social person, at least for the last few years anyway. If you had suggested ten years ago I would be standing reciting my own poetry to a crowd, I would have run a mile.
Why are so many people so hard to get along with ?There’s aggression, antagonism, and then of course there’s the gainsayers, who have to disagree with everything you say, or go one better. Also of course we have a new breed, those who are so addicted to their phones, they can’t be bothered with real interaction.
What a dirty rotten shame, we are such special creatures, but we have been bent corrupted and manipulated to a few greedy cretins ends.

Alien
I learn new skills every day,
But it’s hard when you’re from another planet.
Trying to communicate with people here,
When most have minds like granite.

When you’re from a different world,
Where reason and understanding rule.
When you can’t get through to folk,
You feel like such a fool.

“If you can’t do that, you’re stupid”
“If you can’t do that you’re daft,
It doesn’t matter what you CAN do,
Whether it’s writing or some other craft.

So much lack of understanding,
So little empathy, and care,
I wonder if there’s a better world ?
Somewhere, oh somewhere, way out there.

I have met others here from my world,
We understand each other’s nature.
We do care, and we do love,
But the rest oh what strange creatures.

All words Meadowhead Bard.
