Necromantic Romance.

I remember as clear as day, the day after my all clear from cancer saying to my wife I’m going on a journey. The journey was to be one of learning, learning what life was really, not “Really about”. I don’t believe it is about anything, it just IS. But there is a truth an understanding to be had, and that is what I sought. The word grow is a cliche, but it’s a good one, like a tree the more you grow the more you see around you, and I see a lot now, including a lot of things I don’t want to see, but that’s part of the journey.

Cancer.

Mr Cancer drew a line, and said that’s enough.
“Up to this point here my friend, you’ve been a bit of a chuff
Life is life and death is death, you must choose the answer”
You can choose to live right now, or succumb to the necromancer

He will take you to a magic show where nought is what it seams
A show full of smoke and mirrors, scams and devious schemes
You had entered his tent when I came to your rescue
Now you are stood outside once more, do not re-enter that vile evil venue

Well here I am, the draw is strong, to pull back that canvas flap
Just a tad, just a little peep to see through a tiny gap
But this is how it always starts, the first dose is a free one
Take it try it, just one sniff and all your freedoms gone

I’m going to back away now, put that tent into the distance
No more false prophets, false gods, necromantic romance
Goodbye to what I could have been, but never could I own
Hello to the real world I’m lonely but not alone.
