In Debt We Are Swimming.

If the story of life was written as a book, I would read it over and over again, and probably still not understand it. One thing though I would learn is never pay more for anything than you have to, especially if it makes others rich for doing basically nothing.

When I was a kid, my parents never had a loan, if they couldn’t afford it, they didn’t buy it. My wife and I mainly adopted the strategy, we did have a mortgage though, and occasionally an interest free loan. The culture now though is totally different

I took the idea of today’s offering from a Bob Dylan song called “Rainy Day Women #12&35”.
Strange title as the repeat line throughout the song is “Everybody must get stoned” Probably the “Stoned” in this instance refers to being high on drugs and the “Rainy day women” maybe being the suppliers.
The song can be found on the“Blonde on Blonde”
album, and can be interpreted as a kind of protest
song against governmental and societal pressures.
Please don’t ask me about the #12&35 in the title, I have no idea!

IN DEBT WE ARE SWIMMING.

They’ll loan you as soon as they are able
They’ll loan you in their suit trimmed with sable
They’ll loan you when your wanting a new car
They’ll loan you no matter who you are

Well you’ll never be all alone, everybody must have

They’ll loan you if you want to take a break
They’ll loan you until your wallet aches
They’ll loan if you’re buying a new house
They’ll loan you if you’re just sat reading Faust

Well you’ll never be alone, everybody must have loans

They’ll loan you when you are at your peak
They’ll loan you then treat you like a freak
They’ll loan you when you’re crawling on the floor
They’ll loan you then they’ll come back for more

Well you’ll never be alone, everybody must have loans

They’ll loan you when they’re digging out your grave
They’ll loan you your dignity to save
They’ll loan you then pass it to your kids
They’ll loan you and then they’ll say good rid’s

Well you’ll never be alone, everybody must have loans.

All words Meadowhead Bard, with thanks to Bob Dylan for the idea.
