Heart.
She was beautiful, she new it, she felt warm inside, fresh and clean outside, that just out of the shower feeling, glowing and new. Basking in the warmth of her mother so far away. Her name was Heart, she was a few million years old, but really just a baby. She was one in a billion, nothing quite like her.
As heart aged, over billions of years, she grew lonely and began to weep, pools of clear salty water formed on her skin, it felt good, she sighed and filled the void around her with her clear fresh breath.
In the pools of her tears, microscopic life began to develop, some formed chains anchored to her skin, they swayed in the motion of Heart’s tear pools, the steady movement, caused by her sister calling to Heart from thousands of miles away. Other creatures thrived in Hearts welcoming embrace, at first living amongst the green swaying chains. Over millions of years, they grew bigger, and began to vary in size and shape. She was less lonely now she had company.
Thousands more years, although it didn’t seam long to Heart, the green plant life began to spread from the tear pools onto Heart’s dry skin. It spread in many different forms, some of it hundreds of feet high. Meanwhile in the tear pools the creatures grew bigger, some could swim, and they fed on the smaller creatures. Some liked to crawl on the bottom of the pools, and they soon were able to crawl out of the pools and live on Heart’s skin, amongst the plants and trees.
Heart nurtured all these creatures, and as a consequence they thrived. Some grew to enormous size, Heart could feel them walking on her surface.
Others grew intelligent, Heart could feel that too.
One day Heart felt a great burning deep into her flesh, but after the heat she went cold, and after the shock had passed she realised the massive creatures had gone! She felt sad and alone again. Soon though there were more of the small intelligent creatures, some learnt to walk on two feet, and began to spread to nearly every area of her body. For millions of years, all the creatures on Heart lived In harmony.
Many years past, Heart was becoming aware all was not well. The small intelligent creatures were fighting amongst themselves. She decided this was Ok, because eventually, they would probably realise their folly, or wipe themselves out. Unfortunately neither was the case, they proliferated so fast, swarmed all over her and were so stupid they didn’t realise their folly.
Heart felt the small things, creeping all over her skin. They are now beginning to cause her much pain, digging huge holes in her flesh, causing fires, explosions and poisoning the very fabric of her body, she began to think they would eventually kill her.
Heart conceived of a plan, she could commune with the billions of microscopic creatures, she instructed them to infect and kill the intelligents, that after all were so closely packed together now, it should not be difficult.
At first her plan seamed to be working, thousands of the intelligents became ill and many died. However the intelligents were too clever, they found a way to fight back, making themselves immune to the little bugs.
What could Heart do now? Many many years ago the intelligents worshiped her, and even her mother millions of miles away. Now though they worshiped false gods, even fought over which of these false gods was right. Let them get on with it thought Heart, they will turn on each other, and hopefully wipe themselves out. They didn’t though, they had developed strategies, to stop themselves short of total annihilation, and meanwhile just carried on mutilating and poisoning Heart.
Something had to be done, Heart talked to her microscopic friends, and persuaded them to come up with something much more deadly than last time!!!xxx
