It would be in my younger days a simple matter to complete almost any DIY task, age seems to have robbed me of that super power. Everything is ten times more difficult, just the planning and collection of materials a challenge in itself.
I Want To Do It I Really Do.
I want to do it I really do
But I just can’t find the right size screw
I’ll also need a piece of wood
The piece I’ve got is just no good
I’m was going to measure up today
But I couldn’t find my tape no way
I found the tape just as it went dark
I cannot see now, oh what a lark
I’ll start again at the crack of dawn
Then my wife made me mow the lawn
That all done, even trimmed the edge
Time for dinner now meat and two veg
After lunch where’s the tape measure ?
“Have you seen it my little treasure ?”
“I put it away for you in the draw”
“What the hell did you put in there for ?”
It’s dark again now, another day gone
Wife is out tomorrow that’s the one !
Got the tape, even found the wall
But the car keys couldn’t find at all
Got to the DIY store just at closing
Could see the man inside waving his keys and gloating
I knew the size so that was good
I’ll go next day and get the wood
It’s Sunday today the shop is closed
Why are these silly opening times imposed ?
My mate will have some wood I’m sure
My mate Brian only lives next door
I don’t remember Brian saying he was going away
Well that’s it then can’t get it done today
I’ve never known anything like it in my life
When I got back the job all done by my dear wife.
