I don’t watch much TV, old Star Trek episodes, news, the odd antiques show. Movies occasionally, as long as they are none violent.
I am often called a snob for not liking most TV programs, I find them cheap, moronic, and debased.
Imagine, an alien from some civilised planet, a planet whose inhabitants are not fixated with wealth and violence tuning in to these debased TV programs and most movies, what would he think. Answer, obviously we are debased, moronic and fixated with violence and wealth.
Unless we grow up become a serious civilised people, leave behind this “Bread and Circuses”way of existence we are I am afraid doomed.
I was on a bit of a downer, when I wrote the following, it had rained for what seemed 30 days and 30 nights.
MOTHER.
Like a mother weeping for her wayward child
Our world is weeping it’s been raped and defiled
Her tears pouring from the sky never ending
There’s no excuse for what we’ve done, no way of defending
That brilliant object once shone in the sky
Once referred to in song as “A big pizza pie”
No more is it looking down on us, it hides its face in shame
No more sunbeams, only greyness does remain
Mankind has infested the world like a fungus
Who dare say what we’ve done, are there brave ones amongst us ?
We crawl now like flies on a rotting carcass
Earth and sea full of poison, the sky full of foul gas
It was never meant to be like this, a beautiful garden betrayed by a kiss
She kissed us this earth, made us special, not rotten and corrupt, no not like this.
It’s time to sacrifice now, time to draw back, stop swamping, lessen the impact
Less people needing less and less things, that is the way, and that is a fact.
All words Meadowhead Bard.
