The song “Don’t Worry Be Happy” by Bobby McFerrin always makes me smile, it carries a philosophy that only the lucky few can implement.
What gave me the idea for todays poem though was a verse from another Bob Dylan song “Dirge” From his album “Planet Waves”
SING A SONG OF FREEDOM.
Sing your song of progress, sing your song of tech, sing your song of growth Mammons hands around your neck. Sing of a life improved that never seems to manifest, sing of million Dollar suits while the majority go undressed. Sing of a virtual life, where reality is a myth, sing of a million souls living in a concrete monolith.
I will sing a song for freedom, who will listen, who will dare, who will sing along with me and in the chorus share? Who will stand up and be counted, fixed and resolute, who will stand firm with me against the bully and the brute?
All words Meadowhead Bard.
