I am good at many things, but sleep isn’t one of them. Laying away thinking, how do I make this, how do I fix that, how do we pay the next bill, how can I make people understand they are doing wrong?
Sleep
“Just shut your eyes and go to sleep”, is what my wife she says
“But it’s my job, to worry, look after you in so many ways”
“Go to sleep my love, you can do nothing more”
“But I have to think I have to scheme, to keep the monsters from the door,
they do not rest, they do not sleep, I can hear their growl”
“It’s just your imagination, and the west winds gentle howl”
I heeded her words I went to sleep, until the dawn abroke
Then by the letterbox slamming I was suddenly awoke
My wife she was startled, out of untroubled sleep
Ran down stairs to see brown envelopes all in a heap
“They’re here they’re here she cried, they’ve got in through the door”
“Don’t worry my love, it’s only a fifty bills or so no more”
All words Meadowhead Bard.
