My dear friend in India says “People nowadays have such a short attention span because of the instant gratification of the screen” but you dear readers are going to prove her wrong. Not only are you going to read today’s poem from beginning to end, but you are going to find someway of ordering my little book.
Because I realise how expensive postage charges are I am going to reduce the price down from £7.00 to £6.00. But all postage charges must be paid. Consider ordering more than one copy to spread postage costs and putting one or more copies on one side for Christmas and or birthdays.
GENIE IN A BOTTLE
Think of an underrated book?
Let me see, let’s take a look
should it be a romance novel ?
Something by Dickens about a hovel ?
Maybe some Shakespearean tome ?
Perhaps by some philosopher from Rome ?
Maybe even a Greek like Aristotle ?
Or some eastern myth, a genie in a bottle ?
Could it be a religious book ?
That’s subject I’m going to duck
I’m not going to bite forbidden fruit
My infidels mind you’r not going to loot
So what book then is overrated
Overpraised, overinflated ?
What was that all about you ask yourself
Why did I take it off the shelf ?
Probably mine, but it give a chance
It’s full of little words that dance
Words of love and words of thought
Words of how the world fell short
Words of rain, words of pain
words of slavery, of men in chains
Words of insight, words of being
Words of what we should be seeing.
