THE JOURNEY.
The book that sent me off on a journey, was my own. What started out as a distraction from my burn injuries, became an insight into people’s lives, the doctors and nurses love and compassion, my friends and relations care and understanding, in fact the power people have to love. It also gave me the time and opportunity to study the dark side of humanity, the sheep like traits, violence, greed, ignorance, short sightedness and sheer stupidly of a vast number of people including our leaders.
It turned out I had forgotten some of the lessons I had learned from my cancer, and needed a reminder. Maybe, nature, maybe fate, maybe a god or just coincidence, I don’t know what instigated that reminder, but even though I have suffered great pain, discomfort and even a degree of embarrassment, I am grateful for that reminder.
I have learned more about human nature in the last eighteen months since my burns than possibly most learn in a lifetime. If I can pass just a small part of that knowledge on, then the journey will have been worthwhile.
I am considering book two, if it was feasible I would change my pen name from Meadowhead Bard to Meadowhead Barb, as it will have a little more bite. When Bob Dylan first started turning from folk to electric he called an album “Another side of Bob Dylan” I think I’ll use the first part of that title.
LOVE OS THE MASTER.
Before I found love I was stranded and lost, then I saw the waters I had to cross.
I was misled and misguided until I received that letter, from a Mr Cancer he said you are old and wise you should know better.
Now love is my life, love is my soul I have crossed the river, I have paid the toll.
I stood on the hill the sun pouring down, I saw love standing there, in her golden gown.
Now love is my mistress love is my queen, pretenders to the throne I treat as obscene.
All words Meadowhead Bard.
